Environmental Strategy Meeting
Eraring Energy held an Environmental Strategy Meeting on 25th February 2009, which included representatives from Government Departments, local State and Federal Members of Parliament, university academics and community environmental and fishing organisations. The purpose of the Environmental Strategy Meeting was to discuss the operation of Eraring Power Station, issues affecting Lake Macquarie and local communities, and to develop appropriate strategies to address there issues. As an outcome of the Strategy Meeting, five working parties made up of Eraring Energy, community and Government representatives were established to address each of the following issues:
- Overarching Environmental Management Strategy
- Seagrass
- Turtle Management Strategy
- Plankton, Embryos and Larvae
- Fish Entrainment - Inlet Canal
Eraring Energy also pledged $300,000 over 3-4 years to fund aquatic studies to assess the impact of Eraring Power Station's operations on Lake Macquarie.
