Eraring Energy is a state owned corporation that manages a diverse set of electricity-generating assets located throughout New South Wales, Australia. Eraring Energy has a combined generating capacity of over 3,000 megawatts (MW), including Eraring Power Station at 2,640MW, which is Australia’s equal largest.
The generation portfolio consists of 10 power stations, with 86% of capacity being sourced from Eraring Power Station (located on Lake Macquarie) with the remainder consisting of smaller hydro and wind generation plant.
Electricity Production and Energy Trading are the core business activities of Eraring Energy. The Energy Trading Business Unit together with the Corporate support, Treasury and Information Technology functions are managed from the Sydney business office.
Business activities related to Production, Finance, Employee Relations, Contracting and Purchasing functions are conducted from the Eraring Power Station site.
Eraring Energy was established as a State Owned Corporation on 2nd August 2000 under the State Owned Corporations Act 1989, the Energy Services Corporation Act 1995 and Energy Services Corporation (Eraring Energy) Regulations 2000.
